For the most part, starships in System Sol follow the guidlines presented in the Game Master's Guide and in the Starships accessory for ship creation. Note that System Sol is a PL 6 setting. However, several ship systems are available in System Sol which are not mentioned in those texts, and two weapons which are mentioned - the IR and X-Ray Lasers - are not available, while a few PL 7 systems - such as Cerametal armor and Multiband Radar - are available but only in the Belt. The table below lists the new systems available, and individual descriptions follow. Note that even though some of the listed systems require only half a durability point or power unit, the durability cost for systems on any ship must total a whole number, and a ship rated for 6 power factors can run systems costing up to 6 power factors, including 5.5 power factors, but cannot run systems requiring 6.5 power factors.
Rules Clarification: All hulls come with one Airlock, one Command Deck, and one Reentry Capsule. The price of these systems is included in the cost of the hull, and they do not use any durability points. Note that should one desire more than one of any of these systems, the extras would have to be purchased and installed regularly.

The MicroFusion Generator is a miniaturized version of the older cold fusion generators. Each unit costs 2 durability points and includes an integrated Fuel Tank. The MicroFusion Generator is rated at three Power Factors per unit.
The Fusion Thruster is a smaller version of the simple Planetary Thruster and relies on cold fusion to operate. A Fusion Thruster does require fuel to operate, but not much - one Fuel Tank will fuel two Fusion Thrusters - thus it can use the Fuel Tank of a ship's primary engines. Doing so, however, may prove to be unwise, as a ship tends to run out of fuel more rapidly when two engines both use the same supply. One of these units is required for every 10 durability of the ship.
The MicroFusion Torch is an improvement on the older Fusion Torch engine, utilizing the miniaturized cold fusion technology available in System Sol. The miniaturization of fusion technology allows more fusion power in an engine no larger then previous models. Thus, the MicroFusion Torch boasts double the accelleration of the older Fusion Torch engine, and triple the cruise rating.

This engine is essentially a MicroFusion Torch with an integrated Fuel Tank. It is slightly more dangerous than the non-integrated version, as any attack which strikes the Torch engine also strikes the Fuel Tank as well, but the simplicity of its design can spare engineers a little trouble and so the Unit is often used despite its risk.
This system is a smaller version of the standard Life Support Unit. One of these Units will support only 10 durability.
The Stealth Coating is an improvement upon the older Stealth Hull. More of a process than a system, the Stealth Coating consists, quite literally, of a coating which is applied to a ship's hull during construction. This results in the same stealth properties granted by a normal Stealth Hull but at no durability cost.
This system is fully described in the Starships accessory. In the System Sol campaign, the Stealth Hull has been long possesed by the Belt and is being phased out of production, as improved versions are now in use.
This system functions similarly to the Stealth Shield (not yet invented), but only confers a +2 penalty.
One of these units will berth three crew members, for slightly more cramped but also slightly more private berthing than offered by the standard units.
