San Diego Spaceport Destroyed

Officials were stunned today at the news that the UN spaceport in the Terran
city of San Diego was destroyed by marauding gang members. The UN spaceport
was the first established modern spaceport on Terra, meant primarily for
recieving ships and giving aid rather than fighting off hostiles. Even so,
its defenses were embarrisingly weak to the UN, lacking the interior defenses
and even modern locks featured by more recent spaceports. Even considering
the government's typical reluctance to update facilities, protection should
have been much better for the spaceport, particularily for one in a hostile
area. Fortunately, no shuttle was present at the spaceport for the invading
gang members to use to escape Terra. Satellite records indicate that the
attack was made at approximately 1:00 by the San Diego gang known as the
Armaggeddonists. Roughly one hundred armageddonists invaded the spaceport,
slaying the two dozen guards stationed there but taking 75% losses. A UN
committee is in meeting even now, discussing what should be done about this
terrible tradgedy.
